Following the establishment of its processed food business, S. Khonkaen Foods Public Company Limited recognized that pork—its key raw material—was subject to significant price volatility and supply risks. To strengthen long-term business stability, the Company invested in developing a fully integrated swine farming business to systematically manage the upstream supply chain.

The Company’s swine farms operate under an Integrated Farming System, covering breeding from Great Grand Parent (GGP), Grand Parent (GP), and Parent Stock (PS) levels, based on scientific livestock management principles. This is complemented by the development of specialized feed formulations in collaboration with expert advisors, tailored specifically for internal use.

The Company places strong emphasis on developing skilled personnel with expertise and awareness in animal welfare and environmental responsibility. As a result, the farms have received multiple certifications from both government and private organizations. The Company also works closely with surrounding communities in managing environmental systems and utilities, ensuring balanced and sustainable growth.

Product Characteristics and Breeding Development

The Company selects and develops swine breeds suitable for Thailand’s environment and consumer preferences by applying genetic principles alongside veterinary science and technology. This ensures strong, high-yield livestock and consistently high-quality pork.

The Company utilizes three main Danish breeds for breeding and farming:

Duroc
Characterized by a dark red color, drooping ears, and a strong body structure. This breed adapts well to various environments and is primarily used as a sire line, producing pigs that are robust, fast-growing, and require shorter rearing periods.
Large White
Distinguished by its white color, erect ears, and long body. Known for high fertility and strong maternal ability, this breed is suitable as a maternal line, often crossbred with Landrace.
Landrace
Characterized by a white body, drooping ears, and strong musculature. With excellent reproductive performance and maternal traits, this breed is used alongside Large White to produce high-quality market pigs.
Farm Location and Design

The Company’s swine farm is located in Phaya Yen Subdistrict, Pak Chong District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, covering over 300 rai. Surrounded by mountains, the area offers a favorable climate and is situated from densely populated communities.

Site selection prioritizes disease risk management, green farming practices, animal welfare, and biosecurity systems. The farm is designed with clearly separated internal and external zones, along with strict access control measures to prevent contamination and disease transmission. Transportation systems are also managed to ensure animal safety.

Farming System and Animal Welfare

The Company employs both open housing systems with protective netting against disease carriers and closed housing systems with climate control (EVAP Innovation System) to maintain optimal environmental conditions at all times.

Facilities are equipped with automated feeding and watering systems, as well as lighting tailored to each growth stage, minimizing stress and promoting healthy development.

Swine are raised in accordance with the Five Freedoms of Animal Welfare:

  1. Freedom from hunger and thirst
  2. Freedom from discomfort
  3. Freedom from pain, injury, and disease
  4. Freedom to express normal behavior
  5. Freedom from fear and distress
Environmental Management and Sustainability

The Company is committed to efficient resource and waste management, including wastewater treatment systems, waste management processes, and environmental stewardship based on biodiversity principles.

Farm waste is utilized to produce biogas, which is converted into renewable energy for electricity generation within the farm, reducing environmental impact and enhancing sustainability.

The Company’s swine farms have received multiple certifications, including:

  • GAP (Good Agricultural Practices)
  • Foot-and-Mouth Disease-Free Farm Certification
  • Ractopamine-Free Swine Farm Certification
  • Eco-Friendly Farm Certification
Employee Well-being

In addition to animal welfare and environmental care, the Company places strong emphasis on the well-being of its employees. The farm provides accommodation, residential housing, sports facilities, and recreational activities to ensure a high quality of life and a supportive working environment.
